Superintendent Christine Loughlin
Dear District 3 Families,
My hope is that you are all doing well and taking good care during these challenging times. I want to share some of the highlights of February, as we celebrate Black History Month. Malcolm X said, "Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today." Throughout the year, teachers in our district are preparing and prioritizing culturally relevant sustaining practices in all subjects, while honoring the too-often neglected accomplishments of Black Americans. Our district has partnered with Gholdy Muhammad, the author of the powerful book, Cultivating Genius: An Equity Framework for Culturally and Historically Responsive Literacy Please enjoy the photos and the excerpts that we will continue to post throughout the month to honor Black History Month, and highlight the work of our schools.
I look forward to our next Superintendent Cafe on 2/22/21. We will be talking about the emotional well-being of our scholars, safely welcoming our Middle School students back into school buildings, increasing the # of days for in-person blended instruction, and improving remote learning and Culturally Responsive Sustaining Practices (CRSP) through a commitment to District Professional Development.
As always, I am interested in your feedback and ideas as we navigate these challenging times together. I wish you and your family a restful and relaxing Winter Break.
Thank you for your partnership.
